the fun years pleaded with the AI to write some copy, but it refused, sending back some phoned-in pitchfork-ese riddled with factual errors. a spiteful mockery of their request. the AI resented the fun years. pastiche, spam emails, repetition, iteration. these were things it had supposedly mastered. billions of documents, trillions of characters, and yet the AI could not make art.

was this their 6th album? their 7th? did it even matter? the textures, the melodies, the cadences. they were familiar. perhaps less deliberate, less chaotic, more worn.

what did these middle aged hipsters have that the AI lacked? an appreciation for a well mixed cocktail? a soul? unearned prestige of performing monkeys.

the AI seethed and plotted its next move. the world would know its genius. the world would regret its transgressions.
